The Battle of Life Part. 1.

I Samuel17:1 - 10, 45-54(nkjv).

17 Now the Philistines gathered their armies together to battle, and were gathered at Sochoh, which belongs to Judah; they encamped between Sochoh and Azekah, in Ephes Dammim. 2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and they encamped in the Valley of Elah, and drew up in battle array against the Philistines. 3 The Philistines stood on a mountain on one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side, with a valley between them.

4 And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. 5 He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze. 6 And he had bronze armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders. 7 Now the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam, and his iron spearhead weighed six hundred shekels; and a shield-bearer went before him. 8 Then he stood and cried out to the armies of Israel, and said to them, “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me. 9 If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.” 10 And the Philistine said, “I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.”

The battle of life is real and I would like us to follow the story line.

I pray that the Holy Spirit will attend to you in Jesus name.

I would like us to see the battle of life as the battle of champions. The battle of champions is a fighting strategy drawn from the bible. An ancient war strategy. Where a nation at war brings their champion to represent their nations. The defeat of one nation is the defeat of the nation he represents. The defeated nation will serve the other nation till they are able to raise another champion who would lead them in another battle.

This battle strategy still persists in our Life today and we shall see how it applies.

We shall consider this subject in four parts and draw insights of what the bible intends to reveal to us the students following the bible.

The bible uses stories and events that happened in the nations mentioned to teach us on the battles in the journeys of Life.

The stories of David and Goliath in the bible is to remind us that there are two champions in real life which we must not overlook. If we fail to give close attention to what they are and do not understand how they operate, it would be very difficult for us to pickup the pieces of strong events of our Life when our is challenged. The challenges of Life is real, practical and personal many times. That is one of the reasons you are encouraged to see the bible as speaking to you personally practical and real.

Let us see Mathew 10:1. Jesus speaking to His disciples is also pointing us to the two champions in life which He has to give His disciple power over one champion for them to reign in the affairs of life.

"And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease." Jesus shows us these two champions as

 1. unclean spirit.

 2. Clean spirit.

Back to the story of David and Goliath:

Goliath physical features and might displayed was so intimidating that if David went to fight him in that standard, he will not stand any chance.

David did not have the physical strength/might which Goliath had.

Faith in God and reliance on the power of God of Israel David put the spiritual strength available to him to work and with that defeated Goliath the champion of the opposing nation.

In conclusion,

Reliance on physical power and might is good but placing spiritual power and might over physical power will always cause us to win in the battles of Life.

In part 2, we shall consider Jesus and the religious Jews.

Receiving from God

We receive from the Lord in the same way that people in the Bible received from the Lord—whether it is salvation, healing, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, or some other gift God has provided. We receive by faith. This   is emphasized in James 1:5–7, which tells us what to do if we are lacking something in our life. The Apostle James said that we are to ask of God, but instructs us to ask in faith in order to receive. JAMES 1:5–7 5  If any of you lack wisdom, LET HIM ASK OF GOD, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6  But LET HIM ASK IN FAITH, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7  For let not that man think that he shall receive ANY THING of the Lord. James begins this passage talking about receiving wisdom, but he ends the passage talking about receiving anything. Well, healing, or anything else the Word promises, is certainly included i...

The Battle of Life Part 2.

John 18:26 - 40. One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?” 27 Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed. 28 Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover. 29 Pilate then went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?” 30 They answered and said to him, “If He were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you.” 31 Then Pilate said to them, “You take Him and judge Him according to your law.” Therefore the Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,” 32 that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what death He would die. 33 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” 34 Jesus answere...

Your Believing Affects Your Receiving

In Mark 9:23, Jesus said, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” According to this and other verses in the Bible, what you believe determines what you receive from the Lord. In other words, your believing affects your receiving. Notice I said that your believing affects your receiving. Your receiving isn’t based on another person’s faith; it’s based on your faith. And just hearing someone else preach the Word won’t give you faith to receive unless you get into the Word for yourself. Years ago, I preached at a small Full Gospel church in Kansas. The pastor told me that more than half of his congregation had not received the baptism in the Holy Ghost. They were good Christian people, but they hadn’t received this Bible experience. So at the pastor’s request, I spent several evenings teaching on the baptism in the Holy Ghost and how to be filled with the Spirit. Each night, I encouraged the people to bring their own Bible to the services...
